  • WHAT IS IPv6?
    1. IPv6 is short for "Internet Protocol Version 6".
    2. IPv6 is the "next generation" protocol designed to replace the current version Internet Protocol, IP Version 4 ("IPv4"). When it became clear that IPv4 addresses would eventually run out, IPv6 was developed. IPv6 fixes a number of problems in IPv4, such as the limited number of available IPv4 addresses. Whereas IPv4 addresses are based on 32 bits, IPv6 addresses are based on 128 bits, such as 2003:0000:0000:00B3:0000:0000:0000:1234.
    3. IPv6 also adds many improvements to IPv4 in areas such as routing and network autoconfiguration. It is expected to gradually replace IPv4, with the two coexisting for a number of years during a transition period. Please note that, currently, only .TW domain name is allowed to set IPv6 format.
      IPv4 DNS Setup Example:
      1. ens1.net-chinese.com.tw / 202.153.205.73
      2. ens2.net-chinese.com.tw / 220.130.187.243

      IPv6 DNS Setup Example:
      1. ens1.net-chinese.com.tw
      2. 2003:0000:0000:00B3:0000:0000:0000:1234
      3. ens2.net-chinese.com.tw
      4. 2006:0000:0000:00B3:0000:0000:0000:5678
